Valentine’s Specials at Pastini

Feb, 9 2024 – Love is in the air, and we’re rolling out a special menu just for you and your sweetheart this Valentine’s Day season, and trust us, it’s love at first bite.

 

Let’s talk about our new special dish, Penne alla Vodka. Legend has it that vodka sauce was born in the 1970s at a trendy Italian-American restaurant in New York City. Some say it was created by a clever chef looking to impress a famous vodka brand’s representative dining at the restaurant. Others claim it was created as a way to use up excess vodka in the kitchen. Regardless of its origins, one thing is for sure: this dish quickly became a beloved staple of Italian-American cuisine.

 

Penne alla Vodka

 

Our version of Penne alla Vodka, brought to life by our Executive Chef, stays true to the original with a creamy, spicy sauce made from scratch. We start with hand-crushed tomatoes, fresh oregano, and garlic, adding just the right kick of Calabrian chilis for that extra flavor boost. And for those who prefer to keep it cool, fear not – we can hold the heat by omitting the chilis. We next toss in the succulent shrimp, and finish it all off with a sprinkle of parmesan and fresh chopped parsley. We also use local Crater Lake Vodka, which is certified gluten-free and distilled from corn, so we can make this dish GF upon request.

 

But what’s a romantic dinner without the perfect wine? Try our Pra Di Bosso Lambrusco Amabile, straight from the heart of Northeastern Italy. This semi-sparkling red, with notes of raspberries, blackberries, and cherries, is the ideal companion for our spicy Penne alla Vodka. It’s a complex, semi-sweet red with half the sugar of a typical dolce (Italian dessert wine) – a sweet wine perfect for those who don’t like sweet wines.
