Pastini is an integral part of our communities in Portland, Beaverton, Tigard, Bend, Eugene and Corvallis, and our almost 275 employees have been welcoming guests to our restaurants since 2001.
With this comes a responsibility to look after the health and safety of staff, customers and the wider community around us…something which has come into sharper focus in the wake of the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak in the US.
Because of the widespread nature of virus, we feel strongly that we must be proactive and have implemented elevated procedures advised by the Center for Disease Control, the Oregon Health Authority and our local county health departments, to make sure we are helping to look after our customers, the people on our teams and around us.
Please be assured that Pastini is closely monitoring the situation. Since the first case in Oregon, we have been meeting daily to prepare and take all the steps we can to best protect our customers and staff while remaining open and fully operational. We are also getting daily feedback from the teams in all of our restaurants. The health of colleagues, family, and the wider community is our top priority. By maintaining the highest hygiene standards and sharing official advice with our staff and customers, we hope to play our role in limiting the virus.
Pastini has always maintained the highest levels of cleanliness, health and food safety practices and sanitation in partnership with our county health departments, to ensure our guests and staff are safe. We are confident that our practices are the best in the industry, and we think it’s important to share with you the steps we are taking to keep our restaurants clean and safe for all.
We have elevated and increased the frequency of our practices, and added additional levels of sanitation with disinfectants.
These include: making hand sanitizer available to our guests; disinfecting menus, door handles, hand rails, bathrooms, faucets and other high use areas with increased frequency.
Tables and chairs are always sanitized between guests with disinfectant sanitizer recommended by our county health departments.
For many years, Pastini has used a third party food safety and sanitation auditing company that specializes in restaurants. We contract with an institutional cleaning service company to regularly deep clean and sanitize the restaurants. Our deep cleaning company, One Speed Service, provides an ‘electrostatic application’ to increase the disinfectant effect.
All of our employees have been instructed to stay home if they show any signs of illness, and all Pastini employees are covered by paid sick leave.
We are continuing to review our practices daily, in line with all current recommendations from the State of Oregon, the CDC (Center for Disease Control) and our county health departments, to help prevent the spread of Covid-19.
We are reinforcing these procedures every day with all staff.
We are also getting daily feedback from our management teams, to see if there are any areas where we can expand or improve. Know that the health of colleagues, family, and the wider community is our top priority. Whether you dine in the restaurants or take Pastini home for dinner, you can be sure your meal is being carefully prepared and thoughtfully packaged by staff that is thoroughly trained in safe food preparation practices. (The transmission of Covid-19 has not been linked to food by the USDA or the FDA.)
In closing, we as owners, our senior managers, managers and staffs are dining every day in the restaurants, so we can see firsthand our procedures being implemented, and of course to enjoy the delicious food. We hope to see you there.
