What is a Pastathon?

Pastathons are a program that we have developed to partner with and raise funds for schools, allowing Pastini to give back to our local communities. We also occasionally partner with university organizations, raising money on the University of Oregon campus in Eugene and Oregon State in Corvallis. Please note, university Pastathons are offered on a case by case basis. We honor local schools in our neighborhoods by giving those organizations priority.

Pastathons are held on a Monday & Tuesday, excluding holidays, supporters come in and dine at lunch or dinner, or order takeout food. All they need to do is bring in their flyer or mention the name of the school. Pastini will donate 50% of the net proceeds back to the school, which equates to 20% of the money spent by supporters. So, for every $100 spent, $20 will be donated.

Pastini provides our colorful Pastathon materials, customized for your school. These include 10 complimentary posters, printable flyers and a smaller sized JPG image that can be used on your website, social media pages and email newsletters. You promote the event through your network of supporters.

Which Pastini Locations Participate in the Pastathon Program?

Pastathons are held at all of our locations except our Downtown City Center location.

Choosing Dates

You can book your Pastathon up to one year in advance.

We do not hold Pastathons on holidays. These include: Martin Luther King Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, or any national holiday that lands on a Monday or Tuesday.

We do not book Pastathons for the week preceding Christmas, or the week between Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

We allow two events a year per school, usually a school will do one in the fall and one in the spring.

How does Pastini help promote your Pastathon?

We will provide all of your promotional materials. These include 10 complimentary printed posters sent to you and a copy of the digital poster file that you can also print as flyers in black and white or color. We also provide a smaller JPEG file for social media. After you send us your application and we confirm your Pastathon dates, we will have your materials customized and forwarded to you. Posters are generally sent 3-4 weeks before the event.

Promoting Your Pastathon

How you promote the event is up to you! Ideas that others groups have had in the past have included:

  • Creating a Facebook page for the event.
  • E-mailing the event to your mailing list.
  • Printing the event in a newsletter mailer.
  • Handing out flyers at local events (always check to see if this is allowed).
  • Adding the event to local community calendars.
  • Have your supporters provide links on their Facebook Page to spread the word to their friends.
  • Displaying posters in your office and community.

We want your Pastathon to be a success, however we ask that you do not hand out flyers in front of the participating Pastini during your event.  Pastathons only work if people come to dine specifically to support your organization.The success of your Pastathon is completely up to you!

How We Keep Track of Your Pastathon Sales

When a customer gives their server a flyer or tells them that they are eating at Pastini to support your Pastathon, the server marks the ticket or credit card slip with a special stamp. The stamped tickets are bundled together and sent to the main office and our bookkeepers tally the totals. You should expect to receive the results from your Pastathon within two weeks of the event.

Most school events are well attended and with proper promotion supporters typically spend between $800 to $3000. This comes to a donation amount of $160-$600. We allow two events a year, usually a school will do one in the fall and one in the spring.

The restaurant will also be open to the general public the days of your event, but only money spent by people who mention your organization will go into the donation pool. We want to make sure you know that only what your supporters spend is counted toward the total amount of the donation pool. You will receive 20% of the money in the donation pool. We do not offer events where we offer a percentage of the full day’s total receipts from all sales.
